My basic point
was the obvious--the very technology and economic philosophy which combined
have made this one world also bring unwanted, longstanding characteristics
of other parts of the world to us--i.e. terrorism. And we will never be the
same. We will have to grow up and
decide whether the prospective loss of innocent lives in Afghanistan or wherever
we find the culprits will deter us from doing what we need to do, which is
to defend ourselves.
