Dear Roman:
Thank you for your e-mail about the disaster in New York. I was there when
it happened only two blocks at Battery Park and I saw everything in front
of me including people jumping from the towers. I also had to run twenty blocks
with others so that we would get out of the area. I lost a lot of mewrchandise
as I was doing a street festival there that day and was already set up by
8:30 A.M. The Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, where the
icons came from the last Czar Nicholas II at the foot of Tower II was completely
destroyed by the collapse of the buildings. This was the oldest Orthodox Church
in lower Manhattan from 1914. This was the Church that the actor Telly Savalas
(Kojak on T.V.) parents went to. So many people from my apartment complex
are gone no word from them at all. Please pray for them and all of us.
Father John
